Do the Right Thing

James, the brother of Jesus, writes:
"...if you know the right thing to do and don’t do it, that, for you, is evil." (James 4:17)

Choosing to do the right thing is not always easy. In fact, sometimes it's downright difficult. People make us angry, circumstances frustrate us, life doesn't seen fair, society can pressure us, and sin sometimes looks enticing. Let's be honest here. We don't always want to do the right thing.

God's Love

"But you don't understand what they did to me"
I've heard many people make that statement. And it's true. I have no idea what hurt, pain, or suffering others have experienced in their life. But I do know that God's love can cover over a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). I know it because I've experienced it.
God's love is bigger and it's better. It brings healing and it brings hope. It binds up our wounds. It comforts and encourages. God's love gives us reason to keep going and not give up.
God's love for us sent Jesus to the cross. He loves each one that much. This is big!! Bigger than any harm or hurt we've experienced.
We live in a fallen world...a world influenced by Satan where people have the free will to make bad choices. But that same world is loved by a good God. We can choose to accept His love and embrace healing for our situations or we can continue to focus on our pain.
TobyMac, the Christian artist whose quote I've attached to this post, lost his son a couple of years ago. Any parent knows that would be horrific pain. And yet, he says, "Don't allow what has been done to you to become bigger than what Jesus did for you." Mic drop...enough said!
